The story behind Heartland Landscapes
Heartland Landscapes has grown from a genuine passion for landscaping and a long-term goal of building a landscape construction business from the ground up.
After gaining experience in New Zealand, Trent spent a couple years working in Canada across landscape construction and project management. The move overseas was always about more than just working somewhere new, it was an opportunity to gain as much experience as possible, learn different ways of building and managing landscape projects, and bring that knowledge home to eventually start his own business.
Returning to New Zealand meant starting again from scratch and putting that plan into action. Heartland Landscapes was built with a long-term vision to grow a respected landscape construction business known for quality work, strong relationships and a personal approach.
There’s a genuine enjoyment in the whole process, meeting new people, understanding what they want from their property, working through challenges and ideas together, and ultimately turning those ideas into an outdoor space they can enjoy for years to come.
Why Heartland
The name Heartland reflects where Trent comes from and the kind of landscapes that continue to inspire the business.
Growing up on the rural West Coast of New Zealand created an appreciation for natural landscapes, honest materials and outdoor spaces that feel like they belong in their surroundings. New Zealand’s heartland is often associated with exactly that, rural communities, open spaces and some of the country’s natural beauty.
That influence carries through into the landscapes Heartland enjoys creating today: considered outdoor spaces that combine good construction with natural materials, planting and features that develop character over time.
Just as important is the way each project is delivered. Heartland is owner-operated, meaning clients deal directly with Trent from the initial conversation and site visit through to planning, construction and handover. One point of contact, a personal approach, and someone who knows the project from start to finish.
